NPFL: Bala Nikyu reviews Gombe United challenges after Niger Tornadoes humiliation

Head coach of Gombe United, Bala Nikyu has reveal the problems hindering the growth of the club this season.

The Savannah Scorpions were humiliated 5-0 in Kaduna by Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Bala said the approach of Gombe United players to matches is very poor despite playing attractive football.

The former Nasarawa United gaffer believes the present crop of players have individual brilliance while laying emphasis on how the players should be reorientated.

“This is the first time am sitting on the bench since joining the team. I came in to watch them against Remo Stars,”

“Despite knocking the ball around, I’ll say the approach to the game was bad, the team lack fighting spirit and it’s actually the major problem.

“It’s one thing for a team to want a player to stay and another thing for the player to want to stay.

“Yes the boys are good individually and they can get better if kept together for next season but we need a lot of work to change the players mentality and orientation.”

Niger Tornadoes will square up against Kwara United at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
