NPFL: Doma United pip Heartland to go top of the table

Doma United returned to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table after a 1-0 win over Heartland FC on Wednesday.

Nelson Abiam’s 42nd-minute goal at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe was enough to lift his side to the top of the log with 28 points after 15 games, two points ahead of second-placed Remo Stars.

The Sky Blue Stars will welcome Lobi Stars to Ikenne on Thursday, with Heartland remaining in the relegation dugout with 13 points from 14 games in the 18th position.

Elsewhere, Enyimba International FC and Enugu Rangers settled for a 1-1 draw in an Oriental Derby at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Chijioke Mbaoma had given the People’s Elephant the lead in the 12th minute before Kazeem Ogunleye equalised for the visitors in the 87th minute.

Enyimba sit in the fourth position with 23 points after 13 games while Rangers occupy the ninth position with 19 points from 15 games.

Seven games will take centre stage on Thursday as Matchday 15 of the league continues.
