NPFL Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup: Gbenga Ogunbote plays down 3SC’s title success

Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has insisted that they would not be carried away by the victory at the just conclusion Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup.
3SC (Shooting Stars Sports Club) emerged Champions of the maiden NPFL Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup after coming from behind to defeat Enyimba International 3-2 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
“We are not going to be carried away by the victory because there are a lot of things we need to do in the team,” Ogunbote told pressmen after the final match of the NPFL Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup.
“Be it as it may, we have seen a lot of improvement from where we started till now. All we just need to do is to maintain a level head and make sure that we cross the t and dot all the i before the league commences.”
Despite victory against the People’s Elephant, the coach of Oluyole Warriors maintained that there is still some work to be done with the team to ensure that it ends in an appreciable position at the end of the 2022/2023 league season.
“My definition of a good game is beauty in the game plus success. We want to make people who have come to watch the game enjoy their time. Thank God we have been able to do it but we are not completely done. It’s still a team in the making,” he continued.
“We have played a few pre-season tournaments. We have won some and lost some. This is a big team for us. Very close to the commencement of the league. All I have said before now is that I will just try my best with the cooperation of others to finish in an appreciable position.”
Goals from Taofeek Malomo, Kelly Lester, and Anthony Okachi ensured the Oluyole Warriors claimed the maiden NPFL Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup and the golden prize of 100 million.
Gbenga Ogunbote last season guided Remo Stars to a third-place finish and qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup and will hope to achieve a similar feat with the Ibadan bases side.
