NPFL: Eugene Agagbe reveals how Lobi Stars get better of Enyimba in Lafia
By Wale Mustapha
Head Coach of Lobi Stars, Eugene Agagbe has disclosed that a tweak in formation and personnel were the needed changes employed for his side to beat Enyimba on Sunday.
A second-half header by Alao Danbani helped  the Yes Father Boys earn the match points over reigning champions in the Matchday 29 of Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL clash.
The win helped Lobi Stars joined Enugu Rangers as joint NPFL leaders as the hosts could have taken the lead in the first half but were denied by Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo, who stood firm in between the sticks to ensure the first half of the high profile match ended in a barren draw.
Ojo could not provide answers for Danbani’s header in the second half which was enough to earn Lobi the needed victory.
Coach Agagbe commended his players who sticking to the plan adding that the win would spur Lobi to get more decent results in subsequent matches.
“I thank my players for the fighting spirit they exhibited through out the match,” Agagbe stated in post match briefing with Lobi Stars’ media.
“You know as a coach you have a strategy to win matches, so first half I took my time to study my opponents because it is about three months since I played them in Aba.
“So, in the second half, I brought on two players and I changed my tactics as well and by the grace of God, we won the three points in the end.
“I am happy that I have great players who are ready to push for the title. They played well with the character we are known for and we shall visit 3SC who are our next opponents with a renewed vigour.”
Lobi Stars will then take a long trip to the South-West to battle one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, 3SC, formerly called IICC Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Matchday 30.
