Technical Adviser of Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ilechukwu has criticized his strikers for their slender 1-0 defeat to Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League clash on Sunday.
The last match of the first stanza decided at the Township Stadium in Eket saw the Flying Antelopes failed to profit from their good display as a second half penalty through Ubong Friday that gave the Promise Keepers the victory.
Irked Ilechukwu admitted that Rangers paid dearly for not converting their chances, while tasking his men to step their performance.
“This is the game of football and anything is bound to happen, taking your chances matters a lot,” the former MFM tactician told media.
“We created over half a dozen chances but failed to take them and in the end, we got punished by the penalty call.
We need to return home and right the wrongs we noticed in this game with believe that we will get it right to begin the second on a good note.”
Rangers will next play Rivers United in a re-arranged Matchday 11 fixture next Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
