NPFL: Fidelis Ilechukwu targets 70 points mark with champions elect Enugu Rangers

The head coach of Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ilechukwu is looking forward to Sunday’s title winning game against Gombe United.
Curtain falls on the season as the Enugu based side are set to be crowned league winners irrespective of he result of their last league encounter against Gombe United in Jos, Plateau state capital, the home ground of his former team (Plateau United).
With 67 points the Flying Antelopes have a five points lead over Remo Stars ahead of the Matchday 38 game.
“It is not easy to be a champion and I thank Enugu state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah for his dedication to our aspirations as well as the G.M/CEO of the club, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, who has done very well in motivating the team at all times just as we can’t forget the strong support from our fans all over the world.” Ilechukwu said.
The former Plateau United and MFM FC gaffer targets a win to end the season with 70 points joining the likes of Rivers United (73), Enyimba (70), Akwa United (71), and Rivers United (77) that achieved similar feats at the end of the 2010/2011, 2015, 2019/2020, and 2021/2022 seasons respectively.
“The game in Jos is significant to us because we want to win every game.” He continued. “We want to see Rangers hit seventy points, we are on 67 points right now.
“No match is a small match and we shall approach the match against Gombe United with all the respect it deserves but with the mindset of winning.” He concluded.
Rangers will be winning the league for the first time since 2016 where they emerged winners with 63 points.
This will be the first time that Ilechukwu will be winning the league title after second placed finishes with his former teams (MFM FC and Plateau United).
