NPFL: Fidelis Ilechukwu unsatisfied with Rangers’ display in win over Sunshine Stars

Head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has criticized his Enugu Rangers players for their profligacies and below par performance in their victory over Sunshine Stars on Wednesday.
The Flying Antelopes won the Matchday 28 encounter of Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL by 2-0 thanks to goals from Kalu Nweke and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi in either half.
According to Ilechukwu who has now guided his team to their 10 consecutive unbeaten games in the Nigeria top flight, it was a match that could have seen them scoring basketful of goals.
He however charged them to raise their games and the strikers to be precise with their chances in subsequent matches.
“I think it was a one sided game, we dominated our opponent both in the first and second half.
“We created a lot of chances but quite unfortunate, we could not take all of them. It is too painful and I am not happy about that.
“I expected today’s game to end with as much as 5-0 for us but that is football for you.
“It happens like that sometimes and we keep working on these lapses to ensure we kill off the resistance of opponents when we create the chances,” Ilechukwu told Rangers’ media.
With the result, Rangers continue to occupy top of the table with 51 points from 28 matches.
They will next travel to Katsina to trade tackle with Katsina United in a Matchday 29 fixture on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
