NPFL: Finidi George admits Rivers United’s struggle in Katsina United win

By Wale Mustapha

Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, has acknowledged the difficulties his team faced during their 1-0 victory over Katsina United on Friday.

The match, played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, saw Friday Ubong score the only goal of the game, securing the vital three points for the home side.

Finidi expressed relief at the victory but admitted that the game was challenging, particularly due to disruptions caused by rain.

“It was a difficult game because we started well in the first half, but the rain affected the flow of the match, and we had to resume on Friday,” Finidi told the club’s media team.

“It became a different ball game as Katsina United pushed for a goal while we were also trying to extend our lead to solidify our position.”

Despite the struggle, the win lifted Rivers United to second place on the NPFL table, and Finidi emphasized the importance of holding onto their lead.

“Even though we were hoping for another goal to give us a better edge, we had to hold on to the lead. It’s an odd three points, but we’ll take it,” he added.

The victory moves Rivers United closer to the top of the table as they continue their push for a strong finish this season.
