NPFL: Finidi George hails Rivers United players for defeating Niger Tornadoes

By Saheed Afolabi

Rivers United coach Finidi George has commended his players following their hard-fought victory against Niger Tornadoes in Minna.

A 47th-minute strike from Seiyefa Jackson secured a 1-0 win for the Pride of Rivers at the Bako Stadium on Monday evening.

George described the away win as well deserved and praised his goalkeeper for making a crucial save in the dying moments of the match.

“It was a well-deserved victory, and my goalkeeper made a brilliant last-minute save that prevented them from equalizing,” he stated in a post-match interview.

The former international acknowledged the toughness of the encounter, emphasizing that the team had to give their all to secure the slim victory.

“We knew from the onset that it would be a difficult game. The players gave it their all, and I must commend them for their efforts,” he added.

With this victory, Rivers United currently tops the NPFL table with 20 points from eight games. They will next face fellow unbeaten side El Kanemi Warriors in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 27.
