NPFL: Gbenga Ogunbote hails tactical display as 3SC outclass Akwa United

In a remarkable display of tactical prowess, Shooting Stars’ Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, praised his team for their tactical astuteness in their commanding 3-0 victory over Akwa United in Ibadan.

The Oluyole Warriors secured their second-largest win of the season, adding to the woes of Akwa United in the Matchday 24 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The win extended Shooting Stars’ unbeaten run to four matches and propelled them into the top half of the league table. Ogunbote, visibly impressed with his team’s performance, credited the tactical improvements and the arrival of fresh talent for the positive outcome.

“Tactically, I think we are getting it right. I mentioned at the end of the first round that we can always improve. The only concern I had in the second half of the game was fatigue,” Ogunbote commented.

“With back-to-back fixtures and constant travel, the team is under considerable strain. However, through strategic substitutions, we managed to inject fresh energy into the game and sustain our momentum,” he added.

Addressing recent misinterpretations of his gestures towards supporters, Ogunbote clarified that there was no negative intent and expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the fans and supporters for standing by us through thick and thin. There was a misunderstanding in the previous game, but I want to assure everyone that it was never my intention to show any negativity towards the fans,” Ogunbote explained.

“As a coach, I value the support of the fans, and I extend my gratitude to them. Despite the challenges we face, I urge them to continue backing us as we strive to overcome obstacles and achieve success,” he concluded.
