NPFL: Lobi Stars replace Eugene Agagbe with Daniel Amokachi as Technical Adviser

By Wale Mustapha
Lobi Stars have made a significant change in their technical team, parting ways with Eugene Agagbe as the club’s Technical Adviser following a disappointing start to the 2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Makurdi-based club, who are currently languishing in 20th place with just three points from five games, has swiftly appointed former Super Eagles coach Daniel Amokachi as Agagbe’s replacement.
The decision to part ways with Agagbe, who had been under pressure after the team’s poor form, had been anticipated as the club struggled to gain momentum. Lobi Stars have only won one of their last four league matches, which led to the move.
Amokachi, who hails from Benue State like Lobi Stars, will bring his extensive coaching experience to the team.
The former national team assistant coach and ex-player has previously managed Nasarawa United and Enyimba FC, making this his third stint in the domestic coaching scene.
His pedigree is expected to inspire hope for a turnaround in the club’s fortunes as they aim to improve their standing in the league.
The club’s media release, signed by Media Director Emmanuel Uja, also revealed that other members of the backroom staff had been relieved of their duties and are now invited to reapply for their positions.
Amokachi’s first assignment will be a crucial fixture against Niger Tornadoes in Minna next Sunday, where he will look to start his tenure with a victory and help the team move up the table.
