NPFL MD 17: Shooting Stars break Pillars in Ibadan as Lobi pip Plateau

In one of the opening games of 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 17, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) defeated Kano Pillars 2-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Saturday.

Two goals in each half from Joshua Akpan and Adam Mustapha were enough to silence the Sai Masu Gida.

The win pushed the Oluyole Warriors to the fourth spot on the table with 27 points after 17 games.

Kano Pillars occupy the eighth position with 22 points but after 16 games.

Earlier on, Waheed Adebayo scored the winner as Lobi Stars edged Plateau United 1-0.

The victory moved Lobi out of the relegation zone to 15th position with 19 points from 17 games.

Plateau United dropped one place to the 16th spot with 18 points.

There are eight more games to complete Matchday 17, including seven on Sunday, while Enyimba FC’s clash with Nasarawa United will take place on Thursday.
