NPFL MD 23 Wrap: Remo Stars reclaim summit after pipping Bayelsa United

Remo Stars edged Bayelsa United 1-0 in the first game of Matchday 23 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Saturday.

Adams Olamilekan’s second-half goal separated both sides at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.

Sky Blue Stars goalkeeper, Bankole Kayode diverted away a header from Bayelsa United in the 20th minute

Substitute, Aniekeme Okon tried to shoot from range into an empty net after the goalkeeper came off his line and spilled the ball

Another substitute, Adama broke the deadlock in the 70th minute for Daniel Ogunmodede’s team.

He stabbed home with his right cut back from Olamilekan Adedayo’s assist.

The Nigeria U-20 player saw his header cleared on the line at the last minute with two minutes to the end of the match.

Remo Stars moved to the top of the table with 39 points after 22 games but have an outstanding match against Rivers United at home.

Enyimba and Lobi Stars which will play their game this weekend have 39 points while Plateau United is with 38 points.

Four games will take place on Sunday.
