NPFL MD15 Wrap: Enyimba hold Remo Stars as Shooting Stars, Tornadoes see big wins

Shooting Stars and Niger Tornadoes recorded the biggest wins in the matchday 15 of 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL abridged season from various centres on Sunday.

The Oluyole Warriors were 3-0 better of Gombe United in Ibadan with goals coming from Malomo Taofeek, Mohammed Alao and Douglas Achiv as Coach Gbenga Ogunbote side steered clear off the drop zone.

In Kaduna, same scoreline was recorded in the encounter between Niger Tornadoes and Abia Warriors.

The Ikon Allah Boys scored three second half goals thanks to brace from Idris Munir and the other from David Okoromi to seal the clinical triumph.

Elsewhere, Nerot Silas scored an early goal to hand Plateau United a slim 1-0 victory over delegation worried Nasarawa United in Jos.

While at Akure Township Stadium, Sunshine won the battle of Stars over against Lobi with a 1-0 win courtesy of David Onovo’s first half goal.

In Gombe, newly promoted Doma United continued to proved bookmakers wrong with their bright start to life in the Nigeria top flight as the Savannah Tigers defeated Bayelsa United 2-1 on Sunday.

Two early second half goals from Charles Chibuike and Ekawu Hilary put Doma in the driving seat. Bayelsa halved deficit with seven minutes to end the match but failed to complete the comeback.

In Aba, Remo Stars were almost running away with match points against Enyimba when they lead till stoppage time before capitulating to a late goal and settled for 1-1 draw.

The Sky Blues Stars took the lead through Philip Aduda with two minutes to see out the first half.

The Peoples Elephants pressed on and controlled the remaining half until it paid off for them as Chijioke Mbaoma scored the late goal for the hosts.

Earlier on Saturday, Insurance FC maintained their unbeaten run with a 2-1 win over Elkanemi Warriors and held on to top of Group A with three games to end the regular season.

Two more games will be played on Monday in Uyo with Dakkada hosting Rangers while Akwa United.

The encounter between Wikki Tourists and Rivers United was shifted to a later date due to the latter’s engagement on the continent.
