NPFL MD16 Wrap: Bendel Insurance hit 16-tie unbeaten mark as Enyimba pick away win

Bendel Insurance remained the only unbeaten club in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign after 16 games.
The Benin Arsenals extended its record streak to 16 games thanks to a 0-0 draw with Gombe United. The reverse fixture in Benin City also ended goalless and both sides could not be separated on Sunday after another 90 minutes.
In Umuahia and Awka, Abia Warriors and Rangers International were the biggest winners of the Matchday after a 3-0 win over Dakkada FC and Wikki Tourist respectively.
At Umuahia Township Stadium, Sunday Megwo opened the scoring for the hosts before Bello Lukman netted twice inside final 10 minutes to seal the big win over their visitors from Uyo.
While Enugu Rangers ended their five-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Wikki Tourists.  A brace from Chidiebere Nwobodo and Sam Pam’s late effort guaranteed the return to winning ways for Abdu Maikaba’s side.
In Maiduguri, Enyimba recorded the only away win of the week with a 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors.

Remo Stars brightened their NPFL Super Six qualification after a 1-0 win against Akwa United in Ikenne.
Nduka Junior’s 45th-minute penalty which hit the bottom left corner separated both sides and moved Daniel Ogunmodede’s side to the third position.
Francis Odinaka’s 48th-minute goal handed Lobi Stars a 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes. A goal from Sunday Megwo and two courtesy of Bello Lukman in the 83rd and 85th minute lifted the Umuahia side to a 3-0 win.
In Enugu, Chiediebere Nwobodo’s brace and Samuel Pam’s goal sealed a 3-0 win for the host over Wikki Tourist.
At Akure Township Stadium, Plateau United forced a 1-1 draw against Kwara United despite Adesina Gata opener.
With two games to the end of the regular season, Bendel Insurance top Group A with 32 points ahead of Enyimba (28 points), Remo Stars (27 points), Akwa United (26 points), Plateau United (25 points), Shooting Stars (21 points), Gombe United (19 points), Kwara United (14 points), Nasarawa United (13 points), and El-kanemi Warriors (9 points).
Lobi Stars top Group B with 29 points ahead of Doma United (25 points), Abia Warriors (24 points), Rivers United (23 points), Niger Tornadoes (23 points), Bayelsa United (21 points), Sunshine Stars (21 points), Rangers International (19 points), Dakkada FC (12 points), and Wikki Tourist (12 points).
