NPFL: Michael Ibe explains ‘deserved’ Katsina United’s comeback win vs Plateau United

By Wale Mustapha

Michael Ibe believes Katsina United deserved the match points from their 2-1 comeback win over Plateau United on Sunday.

The Chanji Boys rallied to snatch an important victory over the visitors from Jos in Matchday 26 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL encounter held at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

Goals in each half from Andrew Idoko and Eze Chidera canceled out an early penalty goal from Albert Hilary.

Ibe, who assisted the first goal for Katsina United and also missed a penalty, insisted that the team never panicked when they were trailing as he aslo commended the fans for their support throughout the match.

“It was a good game, and we never gave up. I still believed we were going to score and win even after they scored against us,” Ibe told Nigeriafootball.ng after the match.

” Not too long after, I got an assist for the equalizer to end the first half in a draw. We came into the second half with the mindset that we were still going to win. It was painful to miss the penalty.

“I thought I was going to score, but that’s it. However, I still found a way for us to turn up. I’m excited we scored the winning goal, and I’m happy with the attitude and character of the team, which I believe helped us to come back.

“It shows that we really needed the points, and we gave everything to prove we deserved the win.”

Katsina United have moved to eighth on the NPFL log with 38 points from 26 matches and will next take on Akwa United in Uyo next weekend.
