NPFL: Monday Odigie ecstatic by Bendel Insurance’s valuable point at Enyimba

Head Coach of Bendel Insurance, Monday Odigie has described as valuable and morale boosting his team’s 1-1 draw in Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Enyimba FC on Sunday.

The Benin Arsenal rallied to snatch a point at the Enyimba Stadium after leading scorer, Chukwuemeka Obioma had given People Elephants a first half lead with his eighth goal of the season before Insurance star Osekhoende Imade leveled for the visitors in the second half with a thunderous free kick for his seventh league goal.

After the draw, the former Golden Eaglets’ handler savours the crucial away point against Enyimba, and still remain untroubled about Insurance’ chances of qualifying to the NPFL Super Six.

“Its very important point for us and I’m really happy with it, I see it as full match points because coming here to play against one of the best teams, if not the best team in Nigeria and did what we did means a lot to us,” Odigie told NigeriaFootball.ng.

“We didn’t start the game well as we wanted, we were able to identify where we are lacking at half time and had to make the needed changes, thankfully it worked for us.

“Like I do say, we understand what many people feel about the team as regards to winning the group and Super Six but for us, its just a game at a time, this one is gone and we’ve put it behind us, next is on Wednesday and we need to recover quickly and be ready for it.”

The result mean Insurance still remain unbeaten at the top spot of Group A after 10 games while Enyimba have been shipped down to fifth on the NPFL standings.

Insurance will be taking on Akwa United in the Matchday 11 in Benin on Wednesday while Enyimba will stay back at home to play Nasarawa United.
