NPFL: Nasarawa United were the better side, says Plateau United’s Fidelis Ikechukwu

By Saheed Afolabi
Technical adviser of Plateau United, Fidelis Ikechukwu has insisted that Nasarawa United were the better side after their 1-0 win at the New Jos stadium, Jos.
The Peace Boys’ slim victory over the Solid Miners kept their hopes of qualification for the Super Six playoffs alive.
The former MFM gaffer believes Nasarawa United gave their best in the encounter in order to avoid relegation.
“Nasarawa United were the better side because they knew after today’s game if they don’t get something here it’s going to be difficult for them to stay in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL),” Ilechukwu told media.
“They came all out in the game and they were more determined than us and I think they played better but we capitalized on our chances got the three points and sealed it, we thank God for that.
“Three more games to go, it’s all about trying to concentrate on what you want to do, this game have come and gone there’s a lot of pressure in this game, the next game is against Kwara United.
“I think we need to do everything technically, tactically to ensure we get something out of the game. After that game, we will say that there’s hope.
“I know that if we do not get something from that game, that means top three finish will be very difficult for us.”
The Peace Boys are fourth on the NPFL group A log with 24 points in 15 matches and trail table toppers, Bendel Insurance with seven points.
A trip to Akure to face Kwara United is next on the agenda for Plateau United on the Sunday 29th of April.
