NPFL: Osayi Kingdom is a perfect alternative for Francis Uzoho – Akinade Onigbinde

Technical Adviser of Doma United, Akinade Onigbinde believed his first choice goalkeeper, Osayi Kingdom posses the needed qualities to be Super Eagles’ first choice goal gender.

The young goalkeeper recorded his ninth clean sheet on Saturday in Doma’s 1-0 win over Kano Pillars thanks to Emmanuel Ekpenyong’s first half goal.

Nigerians have asked for the replacement of Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho following his avoidable mistakes that have cost the three times African champions many points.

Super Eagles’ coach, Jose Peseiro has been searching for a reliable replacement as African Nations Cup gets closer.

Kingdom has been in fine form since he joined the Savannah Tigers from Shooting Stars and his coach said he’s not surprised with the goalkeeper’s performance so far.

“I brought Kingdom Osayi into this team. I saw him when we played Niger Tornadoes in the Ahlan Cup last season,” the Doma United manager told media.

“I saw the qualities in him and had to call him over because we had a goalkeeping problem. I knew he can do it because he has the qualities in him.

“Osayi is good to go for the national team. There is no doubt about that. He can give anybody challenge there. I have the assurance in him. He is a very fantastic goalkeeper.”

Speaking about the win over Kano Pillars, Onigbinde said it was down to tactical instructions to the boys which they executed perfectly.

“We at Doma are not on a revenge mission. What we do is to go for our three points,” he continued.

“We knew that Kano Pillars are a good team that can play good football. That’s why we told the defenders to be tactically disciplined which helped us.”
