NPFL: Remo Stars extend lead to 10 points after last gasp win over Kwara United

The lead at the top of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) log is now 10 points as Remo Stars had to rely on two late goals to defeat Kwara United 2-0 on matchday 25 on Thursday.

Goals from Samuel Anakwe and Hadi Haruna ensured that the Sky Blue Stars extend their lead to 10 points ahead of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

The 10 point lead put Daniel Ogunmodede’s side in pole position to win their first ever league title after consecutive second place finish in last two seasons.

3SC had on Wednesday dropped points after a 2-2 draw with Lobi Stars in Ibadan.

Third placed Rivers United also dropped points as they played out a 1-1 draw at Akwa United.

Abia Warriors which edged holders, Rangers International FC 1-0 moved to the fourth position.

In other Thursday’s game, Katsina United pipped two time African champions, Enyimba FC 2-1.

A brace from Lukman Bello gave the host a two goal lead before Ekene Awazie reduced the deficit for the People’s Elephant.
