NPFL: Rivers United can score from any position – Stanley Eguma
By Saheed Afolabi
Head coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has revealed that the any player can score for the club ranging from an attacking player to a defense minded player.
Club captain, Nyima Nwagua was on target in the Pride of Rivers 2-0 victory against Bayelsa Queens at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port-Harcourt.
Eguma is delighted Nwagua has found his scoring boots and demands more from his players in terms of goal scoring, stressing that all players are trained to be attack minded to take advantage of their opponents.
“Nwagua has found his scoring form. He scored in the continent and scored again in the league,” Eguma told the Press.
“That’s what we expect in the game because we are working on how the attackers will score goals. It has started yielding evidence.
“We are training as a team. Everybody is training to score. Sometimes, when our transition is in attack, everybody becomes attacking minded and have the awareness to attack.
“Last season Ebube Duru was a scorer but a defender. That’s how we build our team in such a way anybody could be scoring but we expect the attackers to score.”
With 15 points from ten games, Rivers United are on 12th position and will lock horns with fourth placed Enyimba who have 22 points from 13 matches.
