NPFL: Stanley Eguma confident Enyimba will secure continental spot despite setbacks

By Wale Mustapha

Enyimba’s Technical Adviser, Stanley Eguma, has reiterated his belief that the club can still secure a continental berth at the end of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, despite their challenges.

Eguma’s confidence received a boost following his team’s 2-1 comeback victory over rivals Abia Warriors on Sunday, a win that lifted Enyimba to eighth place on the league table with 46 points from 32 matches.

The victory brought them within four points of Abia Warriors, who currently sit in third place.

The experienced coach, who has managed multiple clubs throughout his career, expressed optimism about his side’s growing confidence and progress.

“The league is still open. As far as I’m concerned, Enyimba are in strong contention,” Eguma said.

“Forget our past flaws. We dropped points against Bayelsa United, and in Lagos, we were close to taking all three points but ended up with none. I believe we’re learning from those mistakes.”

Enyimba’s next challenge will be an away fixture against Sunshine Stars, where they will look to build on their momentum as they push for a top-three finish and a continental slot.
