NPFL: Umar Abdullahi leads Akwa United to Enugu in search of first away victory
By Wale Mustapha
Interim manager of Akwa United, Umar Abdullahi believes his side possessed enough quality players to improve the club’s fortunes as they aim to begin the second stanza on a strong footing against Enugu Rangers on Sunday.
The Promise Keepers had underperformed in the first stanza of the season as the Uyo based outfit parted ways with erstwhile manager Fatai Osho but will seek to get their season back on track in the nest of the Flying Antelopes.
In bid to revive their form, Akwa beefed up their squad with fresh legs and Abdullahi is hoping for a new direction.
“We are aware that our first round performance was not impressive so we’ve make needed adjustment to the team,” Abdullahi told media.
“We feel more stronger and compact now as a team and we are confident of successful second round.
“Match against Rangers won’t be easy but we believe in what we’ve done and trust that will work for us to get the first away win of the season.”
The match is billed for Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu by 4pm on Sunday.
