NPFL Week 20 Wrap: Enyimba pip Shooting Stars as Heartland hold Pillars in Owerri

The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) resumed after mid-season break with two games on Saturday, two-time Africa champions, Enyimba moved above Kano Pillars with a 1-0 win over Shooting Stars in Aba.

Mbaoma Chijioke scored the winning goal for the Peoples Elephant from Ekwutoziam Eze’s assists in the 44th minute.

The win moved Enyimba to the third position with 35 points after 20 games while 3SC occupy the 11th position with 26 points.

In Owerri, Heartland forced ten-man Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw.

Ibrahim Mustapha gave the Northern side the lead in the 29th minute before Mohammed Galadima was sent off in the 75th minute.

Malachi Ohawume leveled the scoreline in the 90th minute.

Pillar dropped to the fourth position on the table with 33 points while Heartland occupy the 19th position with 18 points, a place ahead of Bayelsa United which will host Gombe United on Sunday.

There are eight more games on Sunday as the Nigerian top-flight league resumes.
