By Saheed Afolabi
Heartland Queens defender, Onyedikachi Ekezie is targeting victory against Confluence Queens in their next Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
Previous meeting between both sides in the NFF Federation Cup ended up in a victory for the Owerri side and they are ready to do the double against the Lokoja based side.
Ekezie is setting her sight on winning as the Heartland defender believes in her teammates to get the job done.
“I remember we overpowered them early in the year at the Federation Cup round of 32 clash, and we will be meeting them for the first time in the league, I am confident that we will beat them again this time in the league,” Ekezie told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“Our team work and spirit is high, and I believe at the end of 90 minutes we will be all smiles. I believe in my teammates, the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers, we are on same page and good to go.
“We have prepared our minds to give our all to the match, and we have prepared our minds, too to win the game, all of us are good to go. Yes, our first match on this pitch ended up in sweet victory for us and this pitch will give us another win on Wednesday.
“We have resolved to make this ground a fortress for other visiting teams. We just want to keep the sanctity of this ground, that’s our dreams.”
Heartland Queens are yet to loose a game in the NWFL Premiership after three matches. They occupy the third place on the group A log with six points.
