NWFL Premiership MD 12 wrap: Benue Queens secure first win as Edo, Bayelsa keep unbeaten record intact

After 11 games without a win in the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League NWFL (Premiership) season, debutant Benue Queens finally secured their first win of the campaign on matchday 12.

The Lafia based side edged Ibom Angels 1-0 thanks to Joy Ikyagh’s 57th minute goal.

It ended their run of 10 losses and a draw for Liadi Bashiru’s side.

In Benin City, holders, Edo Queens continued their unbeaten record this season after a 3-1 victory over Dannaz Ladies.

Former Osun Babes and Bayelsa Queens forward, Anjor Mary scored two goals coupled with one from Chioma Moses for Moses Aduku’s side.

Rosemary Okorie pulled a goal back for the Cedars but it wasn’t enough to prevent their seventh loss of the season.

Similarly, Bayelsa Queens also ensured that their unbeaten record is intact with a 1-1 draw against Adamawa Queens in Numan.

Delight Isaac gave the Port Harcourt based side a early lead in the eighth minute but Katon Waken restored parity for the host in the 48th minute.

In Anyigba, Abia Angels picked the only away win of the matchday as Winner Onajite lifted the travelers to a 1-0 win raising their hopes of qualifying for the Playoffs

Remo Stars forced Heartland Queens to a 1-1 draw in Owerri.
Bolaji Olamide ended her four match scoreless run to salvage a point for Wemimo Mathew’s side after Onyinyechi Kalu’s opener for the host.

A hat trick from Mary Moses propelled Rivers Angels to a 3-0 win over Delta Queens in South South derby.

In Abuja, Sofiat Bankole brighten Naija Ratels resolve to qualify for the Playoffs after her goal helped the host to a 1-0 victory against FC Robo Queens.

Finally, Ekiti Queens and Nasarawa Amazons settled for a 2-2 draw in Ibadan. Zainab Ismail bagged a brace for Jacob Vandhi’s side.

Jenat Akekeromowei and Hembafan Ayatsea found the back of the net for the Solid Babes.

There are two more games to the end of the regular season with Edo Queens, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa through to the Playoffs.

Remo Stars can join them next week with a victory at the end of matchday 13.
