NWFL Premiership MD10 Wrap: Confluence stun Edo as Rivers, Robo pick away win

Confluence Queens continued its impressive form with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Edo Queens in Lokoja as the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership with Matchday 10 games after the election holidays.
Peter Martha had given the hosts the lead before Rebecca Ajimuda equalised for Moses Aduku’s side.
Chukwuamaka Osigwe converted the winning goal for Whyte Ogbonda’s side from the penalty spot.
In Osogbo, Rivers Angels picked an away win with a 2-1 triumph against Osun Babes at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu opened the scoring for the visitors as early as the third minute of play before Oghenebrume Ikekhua doubled Edwin Okon’s side lead in the 45th minute.
However, Osun Babes were gifted a penalty kick following an unfair challenge and Olamide Bolaji pulled a goal back for the Omoluabi Babes in the 56th minute.
In Keffi, FC Robo Queens had to rely on Esther Onyenezide’s 90th-minute goal to secure a 1-0 win against the hosts Nasarawa Amazons at the Snake Farm.
In Asaba, a hat-trick from Mercy Omokwo propelled Delta Queens to a 3-1 win over Heartland Queens despite Fayomi Dagogo’s second half effort at the Asaba Township Stadium.
Earlier at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Angels returned to winning ways after a 4-0 win over Ibom Angels.
A brace from Nkechi Agams and a strike each from Feranmi Oduntade and Ibeh Mmesoma ensured the home side ended their three consecutive defeats in the Nigerian topflight.
In Abuja, Naija Ratels FC’s NWFL Premiership clash with Royal Queens was called off in the second half following the visiting team decision to discontinue the match at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10.
Before the encounter was brought to a shocking halt, Anny Essien gave Royal Queens the lead as early as second minutes before Emmanuel Blessing equalized for the hosts 10 minutes into the second half.

The referee blew for the final whistle in the 78th minute with only the Ratels willing to play following a a 11-minute long suspension to proceedings, and according to NWFL rules, the hosts have been handed an automatic 3-0 victory pending further review.
