NWFL Premiership MD2 Wrap: Rivers Angels bounce back, Delta Queens earn away win

The 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership enters match week two on Wednesday with four home wins, a draw, and an away win across six centres on Wednesday.
2020/2021 Champions, Rivers Angels bounced back from last week’s 2-0 defeat to holders, Bayelsa Queens with a 2-1 triumph against Osun Babes at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Blessing Okpe opened the scoring for the New Direction Ladies in the fifth minute before Marcus Grace’s equaliser for the Omoluabi Babes in the 45th minute.
Rivers Angels Ghanaian player, Juanita Aguadze converted the winning goal for the host which made her the first foreigner to score in the league this season.
Ibom Angels also recovered from opening match week defeat to Adamawa Queens with a 1-0 win over Abia Angels thanks to substitute Adekemi Akintan’s goal off another substitute, Chioma Abayin assist.
Royal Queens pipped Naija Ratels FC 1-0 in Warri while Delta Queens earned a 0-2 away win against Heartland Queens which handed the host consecutive defeats.
FC Robo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons settled for a goalless draw in Lagos.
Edo Queens had to come from a goal down to earn a 4-2 win against Confluence Queens in Benin City.
Chukwuma Osigwe had given the Lokoja-based side the lead before two goals from Joy Jerry and Adaobi Okah gave the Obaseki Ladies a halftime lead.
Ogbonda Whyte’a side equalised in the second half via Peter Martha before being reduced to ten players after a red card to Hauwa Abdullahi.
The numerical advantage counted in Edo Queen’s favour with two more goals leading to a 4-2 win.
