Technical Adviser of Bayelsa Queens, Whyte Ogbonda said he was impressed with the performance of his players and that they played to instructions.

He said this after a 1-1 draw with Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Matchday five on Wednesday.

The result was Prosperity Girls second draw in five games after 0-0 draw with Ibom Angels on Matchday two.

“Today, I’m so happy with the performance of my players as they played according to the game plan,” Whyte asserted.

“Rivers Angels were lucky to have scored first; if we had scored first, we would have won the match.

“I praised my girls as they gave 100% and adhered to the game plan.” Coach Whyte Ogbonda added.

Bayelsa Queens came from behind to draw their neighbors in an NWFL South-South derby encounter at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

Peace Effiong opened scoring for the host in the 10th minute of play.

Zainab Olapade restored parity for the travelers in the 27th minute.

Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper, Monle Omini saved Aminat Folorunsho’s penalty.

A few minutes from full-time, Rivers Angels’ Captain Ifeoma Paulinus had a shot hitting the crossbar in what would have been the winner.

Bayelsa Queens remain first on the NWFL Group B log with Eleven (11) points and a +8 goal difference, while the host Rivers Angels have the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference of +4 and are in second position.

Next week, Wednesday, 19 February 2025, Bayelsa Queens will play host to Naija Ratels at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
