NWFL Premiership: Rivers Angels’ Florence Alexander eyes fine start at Bayelsa Queens
By Wale Mustapha
Florence Alexander has urged her Rivers Angels’ teammates to replicate their fine preseason form when they launch their new Nigeria Women Football League Premiership campaign against Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday.
The seven-time NWFL champions enjoyed an impressive result in their preseason tasks and the opening match in Yenagoa will be coming as a big test in their r aspirations to reclaim the league crown.
And Alexander who joined Angels from Confluence Queens this summer, is now urging her new teammates to carry on their ruthless edge into the new season and get the needed points at stake which would define their campaign.
“We have to start well and I believe we will, we’ve put a lot of work into this season,” Alexander told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“We look good for the match, I will only urge us to keep the shape of how we’ve been building up so far and with that, I’m optimistic we will come out with something special.”
Alexander guided Confluence Queens to second place finish in 2021 with final defeat to Rivers Angels and the centre defender admits she’s settling in well at her new club and is looking to inspiring the team’s return to glory days.
“Its a wonderful family here, I’ve been treated well since I came in and I’ve mixed well with my new team mates, the management and the coaches have helped a lot as well,” she continued.
“I came here to win trophies and laurels because that’s what Rivers Angels are known for, last season wasn’t that bad for us, but we couldn’t win any title but I believe, with hard work and God on our side, we will achieve greater success together this season,” she concluded.
