NWSL: Asisat Oshoala scores in consecutive games in Bay FC stalemate with Courage

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Asisat Oshoala, the Africa Women’s Player of the Year, extended her impressive goal-scoring run as she found the net once again for Bay FC during their 1-1 draw against North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Saturday.

The Nigerian forward, who netted the decisive goal in Bay FC’s 1-0 victory over Racing Louisville the previous weekend, opened the scoring in the ninth minute against North Carolina Courage.

Oshoala received a well-timed pass from Tess Boade inside the box and calmly slotted the ball home with a right-footed strike.

Despite Oshoala’s early goal, the hosts equalized in the 28th minute when Denise O’Sullivan provided the assist for Ashley Sanchez to level the score. Both teams had opportunities to secure a win, but neither side could convert their chances, resulting in a shared point.

Oshoala played the entire match, raising her tally to five goals and one assist after 19 games this season. Bay FC currently holds eighth place in the league standings with 25 points from 20 games.

Looking ahead, Bay FC will aim to build on their recent performances as they prepare to host Orlando Pride at home on September 21, 2024.
