By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Record Africa women’s footballer of the year, Asisat Oshoala scored her fourth goal in the NWSL as Bay FC left it late to pip Racing Louisville on Sunday.

Oshoala alongside her African sister, Rachael Kundananji were the torn in the flesh of Racing defence throughout the match with chances upon chances.

Kundananji set Oshoala up in the first half twice but her efforts went wide and to the side netting.

The surge continued for the host in the second half before the breakthrough came in the 75th minute.

A good work inside the box by Penelope Hocking fell to Oshoala, who was alert enough to fire a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net.

The former FC Barcelona stars received a yellow card in the 82nd minute before Madeline Moreau replaced the goal poacher in the 86th minute.

Oshoala’s compatriot, Uchenna Kanu was not dressed by Racing Louisville.

She had scored four goals with an assist in 18 NWSL games.

The win ensured that Bay FC occupied the seventh position and was in contention to qualify for the season-ending Playoffs with 24 points after 19 games.

They will face North Carolina Courage on September 14, 2024.
