Official: Enyimba announce goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo as new captain
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Enyimba International have announced veteran goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo as the new captain of the club.
Following the departure of former captain and goalkeeper of the People’s Elephant, John Noble to Tanzania, head coach Finidi George has named Ojo to take on the new role as the club’s leader for the upcoming campaign.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper will be assisted by 23-year-old defender Somiari Alalibo ahead of the new season.
Though sometimes hampered by injuries, Ojo has been a mainstay in the Enyimba first team. Olorunleke was in goal for the Aba Millionaires during the NPFL Super Six playoffs in Lagos as he led the team to their ninth league title.
Following his impressive performance at the Super Six playoffs, he earned a return to the Super Eagles fold for the 2024 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone in Monrovia.
