Former head coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Jose Peseiro, has joined the Egyptian side Zamalek SC.
The club announced the arrival of the Portuguese gaffer on Friday.
He replaces Christian Gross as the head coach of the Egyptian outfit.
Zamalek will be the second Egyptian side that Peseiro will be coaching after being in charge of Al Ahly from 2015 to 2016.
He is returning to coaching 11 months after leaving his position as Super Eagles manager.
On 29 December 2021, Peseiro reached a verbal agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to replace Gernot Rohr at the helm of the national team.
On 15 May 2022, Peseiro was finally appointed as the new head coach. He finished runner-up in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), losing 2–1 to hosts Ivory Coast; subsequently, he was awarded the Order of the Niger by President Bola Tinubu.
Peseiro left his position on 1 March 2024.
