By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Kelechi Iheanacho is departing English Premier League (EPL) outfit, Leicester City ahead of the 2024/2025 season after the team staged an instant return to the top flight.

The former Premier League champions announced Nigeria forward’s exit on their social media pages with a video of his illustrious goals for the team with the tag “Thank you Seniorman”.

Iheanacho joined the Foxes from Manchester City and won numerous titles with the team notably the FA Cup where his goals lifted them to the title.

He joined Leicester City from the Cityzens in 2017 for a reported Nigeria record transfer.

During his time, he won three titles; FA Cup, Community Shield, and EFL Championship which sealed their promotion to the EPL.

He was instrumental in the team’s run of winning their first-ever FA Cup during the 2020/2021 season.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations silver medalist scored 64 goals for the Foxes with 33 assists in 232 games.

His next destination is unknown but clubs across Europe are expected to acquire the free agent forward.
