Premier League newcomers Burnley have confirmed that Oluwaseun Adewumi has joined Cercle Brugge on a season-long loan deal, as the promising midfielder seeks to continue his development on the European stage.
Eligible to represent both Nigeria and Austria, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder will look to build on the momentum of his breakout season with Dundee United, where he earned the Young Player of the Season award after registering 5 goals and 5 assists.
“Seun Adewumi is a young, versatile, attack-minded player whose speed, direct style of play, and constant threat fit perfectly with our vision,” said Luciano Murchio, Cercle Brugge’s technical director.
“We are confident that he will be an important addition to the team this season. We are pleased to welcome Seun to Cercle and look forward to playing a key role in his further development as he takes the next step in his career with us.”
Cercle Brugge, who are set to compete across multiple competitions this season, will be hoping Adewumi adds an extra edge to their attacking options as he continues his upward trajectory.
