OFFICIAL: Wolfsberger AC sign Nigerian left-back Harrison Uzondu

By Dayo Awoniyi

Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC have completed the signing of Nigerian left-back Harrison Uzondu on a two-year contract.

The 20-year-old, who impressed with Ikorodu City FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), was unveiled by the Carinthian club earlier this week.

Uzondu is noted for his overlapping runs, defensive solidity and ability to build play from the back. Wolfsberger AC believe his versatility will bolster their squad as they target a strong campaign in both the domestic league and European competitions.

His transfer adds to the growing list of NPFL products making the leap to Europe, further underlining the Nigerian league’s reputation as a pipeline for emerging talent.

Uzondu now follows the path of compatriots such as Alhassan Ibrahim and Bright Edomwonyi, who have previously featured in Austria.
