By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke has signed a two-year contract with Sudanese top side Al Merrikh, departing from Enyimba FC.

The Super Eagles’ shot-stopper was unveiled as a new Al Merrikh player on Thursday after completing his medicals and putting pen to paper.

Olorunleke, who served as a backup for Stanley Nwabali during the last African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast, brings a wealth of experience to his new club.

Throughout his career, he has played for several notable clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), including Giwa FC, Sunshine Stars, and Abia Warriors.

In addition to his league experience, Olorunleke has a history of success in domestic cup competitions. He was part of the Akwa United squad that won the Federation Cup (formerly known as the Aiteo Cup) in 2017.

More recently, he played a crucial role in Enyimba’s triumphant campaign, securing their 10th league title last season.

Olorunleke’s move to Al Merrikh marks a significant step in his career, as he aims to bring his expertise and winning mentality to the Sudanese league.
