Olisa Ndah’s agent opens up on botched Sassuolo move

By Monsurah Olatunji

The agent of Olisa Ndah, Mike Makaab, has shed light on the failed move of the Super Eagles star to the Italian Serie A side Sassuolo.
Ndah has been a revelation for Orlando Pirates since joining from Nigerian side Akwa United at the start of the previous DStv Premiership season following his significant contribution to United’s NPFL title win.
His incredible form since joining the South African outfit earned him a surprise Nigeria call up, as coach Augustine Eguavoen took him to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and gave him few minutes of action.
The 24-year-old Orlando Pirates lanky defender was heavily linked with a move to the Italian outfit during the previous transfer window and Makaab revealed that the Sassuolo’s deal crashed due to fitness issues.
“There was an initial interest in Olisa Ndah, then he suffered an injury at the same time as the interest from Italy, and the deal didn’t end (well),” Makaab told FARPost.
The Nigerian however remains focused on helping Orlando Pirates win the South African Premier Soccer League title and cementing his place as one of the best defenders in the league.
It now remains to be seen if Sassuolo will make a return for Ndah at the end of the season and if Pirates will still be willing to do business with the Italians.
