Former Nigeria U17 striker, Olusegun Olakunle scored his first Russian Premier League goal for Krasnodar on Sunday in their 2-0 win at Rubin Kazan.
Olakunle who joined the Russian Premier League giants in the summer from Danish side Fremad Amager in 2021 came off the bench to score his team’s second goal to retain their spot on top of the league log after nine games.
The match that also featured others Nigerians in Ugochukwu Iwu (Rubin Kazan) and Moses David Cobnan (Krasnodar) saw the visitors took the league in the 24th minutes through Jhon Cordoba.
There were moments for both teams to score but weren’t well utilized until Olakunle came on with 15 minutes to see out the game and scored from Cordoba’s delivery.
Krasnodar have so far garnered 24 points from 10 games leading the log three points ahead of second placed Krylya Sovetov.
Olakunle has previously played for ABS Ilorin FC.
