Osimhen hits 31 goals as Galatasaray thrash Eyupspor

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen continued his sensational form for Galatasaray on Sunday, scoring his 31st goal of the season and providing an assist in a dominant 5-1 victory over Eyupspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigerian striker set up Roland Sallai to open the scoring in the 29th minute, before getting on the scoresheet himself in the 71st minute — his fifth goal in as many games. Lucas Torreira added Galatasaray’s second shortly after the break.

Eyupspor briefly threatened a fightback when Lucas Claro pulled one back in the 79th minute, but substitute Álvaro Morata put the game beyond doubt with a late brace in the 87th and 90th minutes.

The win lifts Galatasaray to 80 points at the top of the table, extending their lead over second-placed Fenerbahçe to five points as the title race heats up.

Osimhen’s goal takes his league tally to 22 goals and five assists in 26 appearances. Across all competitions, he now boasts 31 goals and six assists in 36 matches — a stunning return in his first season in Turkey.

With just a few games left in the season, Osimhen’s red-hot form could prove decisive as Galatasaray push for their first Super Lig title since 2019.
