Osimhen wins bragging rights over Lookman as Napoli maintain Serie A winning streak

It was a clash involving two of top Italian Serie A sides between Atalanta and Napoli but it was to settle the bragging rights between two of Nigerian strikers, Ademola Lookmam and Victor Osimhen.
The Matchday 13 played at the Gewiss Stadium in Atalanta lived up to its prematch hype with frenetic moments from start till the end.
It was Napoli who extended their lead at the summit to eight points following a hard-fought 2-1 with goals from Super Eagles’ duo.
Victor Osimhen could not put himself well as he tried to defend a corner and in the process handled the ball which handed Atalanta an early penalty
Ademola Lookman was employed to take the spot kick and he converted with an unstoppable strike into the top right corner past a helpless Napoli keeper Alex Meret.
Osimhen would then made up for his error, as he stunningly scored the equaliser for Napoli from a pinpoint Piotr Zieliński cross to record his ninth goal of the season.
The Nigerian marksman then made the traveling Napoli fans forget about his early shortcomings as he ghosted past Atalanta defender before feeding Eljif Elmas in the box, and the Macedonian did well to bury the ball and caused a near perfect silent at the stadium.
Lookman fluffed a great opportunity to equalise for Atalanta in the second half crashing a rebound effort against the bar.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s men were unable to find the equalizer making them to record their 13th home loss for the 13th time in 2022.
It was Napoli’s ninth successive league victory, their best run since the days of Maurizio Sarri.
The result also made Napoli to remain one of two sides in Europe’s top five leagues to remain unbeaten in the league, as they continued the chase for their first Scudetto title since 1990.
