Pacesetter Queens Clarify Status Of Former Player Amid Reported Security Incident

Pacesetter Queens Football Club have issued an official statement addressing reports surrounding their former player, Ihotu John Rebecca, following an alleged security incident along the Benin Expressway in Edo State.

In the statement, the club clarified that Rebecca was officially released during the most recent transfer window of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership. The management also confirmed that Adegbite Bukola, Oladunjoye Omotolani, Adeshina Aishat, Aganmuyi Taiwo, Busari Suliyat, Jaiyeola Faith, Raheem Aisha, and Ugah Hellen are no longer registered under the club’s contractual structure.

“For clarity and the avoidance of doubt, these individuals are not presently under the contractual structure of Pacesetter Queens Football Club,” the statement read.

Despite clarifying the contractual situation, the club emphasized that its primary concern remains the safety and well-being of the former player.

“It is with heavy hearts that we received the disturbing news of Rebecca’s reported abduction. The moment the information reached us, the Club immediately engaged relevant authorities and activated every appropriate channel within our reach to support ongoing efforts aimed at securing her safe release.”

The Ibadan-based side stressed that although Rebecca’s professional relationship with the club has ended, she remains part of the Pacesetter Queens family.

“Though her professional journey with us has ended, she remains forever connected to this family. Football unites us on the pitch, but compassion binds us beyond it.”

The club concluded by expressing solidarity with Rebecca’s family and calling for public support as efforts continue to ensure her safe return.
