Nigeria forward Esther Okoronkwo has voiced her frustration over her disallowed goal in the 0-0 draw against Cameroon at Stade de la Reunification in Douala on Friday.
The Super Falcons were visitors to the Indomitable Lionesses but failed to see off their hosts as the first leg of the doubleheader clash saw the West Africans forced to a drab draw.
However, Okoronkwo who saw her goal wrongfully disallowed for offside was not happy with the officiating.
The American-based forward received a beautiful through-pass from the captain of the day, Rasheedat Ajibade, and confidently blasted past Cameroonian goalkeeper Bihina in the 54th minute of the game.
In a story post on her Instagram page, she wrote, “Their fada left yanch.”
Then in another post showing footage of one overturned goals, the outraged forward wrote: “2 cancelled goals! Pls, tell me how this is offside?” she questioned.
The 23-year-old felt she had found the net legitimately on two occasions, upon reviewing the footage, it became evident that the match official’s decision was incorrect.
Nigeria will now welcome the Lionesses for the second leg scheduled for Monday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Only two teams will represent Africa at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and the winner over two legs will face the winner of Tanzania vs South Africa for their last qualifying phase.
