Paris 2024: Francisca Ordega Rallies Support for Super Falcons ahead of Spain clash

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Francisca Ordega has expressed her support for the Super Falcons as they gear up to face reigning World Champions Spain in their second group match at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

The CSKA Moscow forward was part of the squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where the Super Falcons finished the group stage unbeaten before losing on penalties to England.

Despite her absence from Randy Waldrum’s current Olympic roster, Ordega remains a fervent supporter of her national team.

The former Washington Spirit, Atlético Madrid, and Shanghai Shengli player has been out of the international scene since her substitute appearance against England at the last World Cup.

Despite not making the cut for the Olympics, she wishes the team well as they make their first Olympic appearance in 16 years.

The Super Falcons narrowly lost 1-0 to Brazil in their opening match on Thursday. They now face a crucial game against Spain, hoping to keep their quarterfinal dreams alive for the first time in twenty years.

“Praying for these beautiful ladies. Let’s get them, girls,” Ordega posted on her Instagram stories, demonstrating her unwavering support for her teammates.

Ordega is currently the second-highest scorer in the Russian Women’s League, showcasing her continued prowess on the field.
