Paris 2024 Olympic: Time and where to watch Nigeria vs Spain

By Monsurah Olatunji

Following their opening match defeat to Brazil, Nigeria will face Spain in their second group match of the Women’s Olympic Football event.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm local time on Sunday at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, France.

The Super Falcons, who lost 1-0 to Brazil in their first return to the Olympics since Beijing 2008, now face the formidable task of taking on the reigning World Champions.

Spain, currently ranked number one in FIFA Women’s Rankings, boasts an impressive lineup of UEFA Women’s Champions League winners and came from behind to defeat Japan 2-1 in their opening match.

With their victory, Spain leads Group C with three points, level with second-placed Brazil. Meanwhile, Japan and Nigeria remain without points, occupying the bottom two spots in the group.

La Roja’s history dates back to the 1980s, and their incredible 2023 World Cup victory has brought them into the spotlight. They will be hoping to add to their list of honors in the 2024 Olympics.

Despite being one of the lowest-ranked teams in this summer’s Olympic campaign, Nigeria has demonstrated resilience and the ability to achieve remarkable feats.

The match against Spain is a crucial opportunity for the Super Falcons to turn their fortunes around and stay in contention for the knockout stages.

Fans can catch the highly anticipated clash on Sunday, July 28, 2024, on DStv and the Sporty TV channel on StarTimes.
