Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifier: Ifeoma Onumonu eyes Nigeria victory in Cameroon
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria international, Ifeoma Onumonu has set her sights on defeating Cameroon in the two legged 2024 Olympics qualifiers tie.
The Super Falcons will be aiming to end their unsuccessful appearance at the Olympics which they last appeared in 2008 and Onumonu is optimistic of the Falcons qualifying for the world major sporting event and discarded the threat posed by the Indomitable Lioness citing the preparedness of the team.
She believes being at the Olympics is a target the players are committed to and won’t let it slip away this time.
“I am really confident of our qualification because I think we have a good team, we are together and we are prepared, and I think we are going to beat this team both away and in our home, no disrespect to them though,” Onumonu was quoted by Paimedia.
“I want to promise we are going to be at this year’s Olympics, I mean we haven’t been there for years, so that is our real number one goal, anything can happen in this game, but our focus right now is to beat Cameroon.”
The Indomitable Lioness will clash with the Super Falcons in the first leg of the Olympics qualifer at the Stade de la Reunification, Douala on Friday February 23.
