Paris 2024 Qualifiers: Randy Waldrum leads early arrivals in Super Falcons camp for South Africa doubleheader

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Against earlier doubt that the head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, Randy Waldrum won’t be available against South Africa, the American has arrived in Nigeria for the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifying doubleheader.

Waldrum, who is also in charge of the University of Pittsburgh is among the early birds to the team’s camp on Sunday night.

His arrival meant that he would miss the University of Pittsburgh two games within that period.

They are expected to face Lafayette in the PA Classics on April 6 and West Virginia on April 13.

Rasheedat Ajibade is also expected to be among the early birds as the Super Falcons camp opens on Sunday for the African final qualifying fixture for this year’s global showpiece against the Banyana Banyana.

Young defender Shukurat Oladipo, veteran goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, Japan-based Chidinma Okeke, and Spain-based forward Gift Monday are also awaited in camp on Monday.

The rest of the squad will be in by Tuesday, though USA-based reigning African queen Asisat Oshoala is not expected until Thursday.

The first leg will take place at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Friday.

The return is scheduled for the Loftus Versfeld arena in Pretoria five days later.
