Stade de Reims defender Oluwatosin Demehin is elated after playing her first game since returning from injury in February.
The captain of Nigeria U-20 girls at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup played full 90 minutes during the Super Falcons’ 1-0 loss to Brazil as the women’s football tournament gets underway on Thursday.
She was on the heels of Gabi Nunes who scored Brazil’s winning goal before converting the deciding goal.
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive,” She posted on her X handle (formerly Twitter) after the match.
“You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.
“Buzzing to get back on the pitch after several months off ..Grateful and thankful to the Almighty for this opportunity. BACK AND STRONGER.” She concluded.
Demehin had her debut tournament at an impressive 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where Randy Waldrum’s side reached the Round of 16 with a narrow penalty loss to runners-up, England.
The next focus for the former Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels defender is to help the team scale through the hurdle of world champions Spain on Sunday.
Afterwards, the team will conclude their group campaign against 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Japan on Wednesday.
