Paul Onuachu departure could cost Genk the Belgian league title – Marc Degryse

Marc Degryse believes the exit of Paul Onuachu from Genk could affect the club the Belgian league title chances.
Onuachu sealed a deadline day move to Southampton in a reported transfer fee of €18million plus add-ons, while compatriot Tolu Arokodare was signed on the same day from French club Amiens as his replacement.
The former Belgium international admits that Onuachu should not be underestimated because he could guarantee 20 to 30 goals every year, while tasking new signing Arokodare to raise his game in the bid to fill Onuachu’s void.
“You should not underestimate that impact. He was the top scorer guaranteed 20 to 30 goals every year. The competition will not mind Onuachu’s departure. Yes, this can cost Genk the title,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“But I see Wouter Vrancken capable of finding a solution for this as well. Much will depend on how Arokodare integrates. He joins a team that’s running well. As a new player it’s easier to find your way.”
Onuachu scored 16 goals in 19 matches for Genk this season before departing to the St Mary’s stadium.
